Simple and Fun

Can't wait to make these two projects...

for the nursery...
for my sewing room...
for the hallway...

Daydreaming...

A girl can dream...

now I'm
off to change a stinky diaper...
switch the laundry and
supervise the train track construction that is taking place under my dining room table.

Play Date Festivities

We enjoyed some back yard science...
involving
soda...Mentos...a trigger...an eager audience...
and a fabulous 10 second geyser...
It was so worth the mess.
Followed by some juice, fruit snacks, train playing, preschooler disagreements...
and concluding with some Easter egg chalk art.
The kids were successfully worn out...
and their parents were wildly entertained by their conversations.

Andy Disagrees

I don't really understand why Andy is so opposed to getting a tattoo...

especially since I found the perfect one for him...

Easter Around These Parts

We started out the morning bright and early with a little egg hunt...
with our new sock monkey baskets...
PJ's...bed head and all.
We found lots of candy and hot wheels.
Then on to what the Easter bunny brought...
which included garden tools, paint brushes, an outfit, new cups, and bug jars!
Such a practical Easter bunny.
Followed by dressing up and hanging out with the family.
Girlfriend was on cloud 9...
new tights...new shoes...
new yellow dress with polka dots...new sweater...bracelet...necklace...
and of course a fabulous new bow.
AJ spiked his hair...
and was off for wild back yard adventures...
with his cousins.
We ended the day with a spectacular fireworks show as AJ melted down in
true holiday over-stimulation tantrum mode.

It was awesome.

Thank goodness that good 'ol practical Easter bunny
brought this momma some Godiva and Dr. Pepper.

Some Guidelines

Here are a couple guideline posters that would be fun for the house...

One for the nursery:
(pink or blue...not sure yet.)

And one for the downstairs hall:
Words to live by in my opinion.

Earth Day Craft

We had a little shaving cream, glue, and paint fun with our Earth Day craft.
3 parts shaving cream to 1 part Elmer's glue and as much paint as your heart desires

So Many Lists

To-Do lists
T0-Make lists
Honey-Do lists
Wish lists
And now a book dedicated to one special list:
Ha! This makes me laugh.
Slightly inappropriate I know, but funny none the less.
You can get your own at 27th Street Press on Etsy.

I used to say, "I'm gonna punch you in the face."
Totally joking around...

Then one day I overheard AJ tell Abby he was going to punch her in the face.
Mommy had to find a new saying.
And we had the "sometimes grown-ups make mistakes talk."

Parenting is such a joyful, humbling experience.

On My To-Make List

There are just so many fabulous things to make out there.

Here are a few on my list for this June...

1. A tooth monster for AJ:
Although it was entertaining to watch Andy
maneuver over all the stuffed animals and electronic loud noise making toys to try and
locate AJ's tiny baby tooth under the three pillows AJ had stacked up and slept on the other night...without waking up either child...
Ha! It was priceless,
but he might appreciate a pillow a top all the bedding and clutter next time.

2. Jazz up that old school silverware we have annoying me in the silverware drawer:
We were gifted with cute silverware when we were married, but Andy has an unnatural attachment to his classic old school hand-me-down silverware. Thus we have two silverware drawers. And now we have a happy funky solution to make everyone happy.

3. Rainbow cupcakes in a jar:
This is a party in a jar folks!
I need to make these for every up-coming occasion!

Genius I Tell Ya

Some moms out there are just so clever...
and lucky for me, they blog their cleverness.

I love this idea from Come Together With Kids.

Check her out.
She has a couple simple bubble recipes this momma is gonna give a try.

What a great idea.
You can snag one of these plastic jugs at Wal-Mart for a couple dollars.

And don't you worry...
Girlfriend and I will have a very serious conversation about how although our bubbles
come out of this cool nozzle, we DO NOT drink bubbles.
I used to think there were somethings that you didn't need to explicitly state for your children...
then we had Abby.

Dreaming

This summer I shall conquer all my photos
and my inner scrapbooking desires.
This little jewel caught my eye the other day &
I fell in love with everything about it on Paperclipping.

color, polka dots, scallop edges, butterflies...you get the idea.

I will not feel settled again until I get this out of my system.

My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Easter Tradition You Can't Miss Out On

My mom always bought me Peeps this time of year.
I didn't really love them...
but loved that she always got them for me.

Over the years...
a tradition has been born....
I'm not gonna lie...

It's a little twisted...

but...
I laugh my butt off when they expand in the microwave...
It's like every time is the first time...

It's that great.

This Summer...

I say:
Let's get together...
make some homemade lemonade & raspberry tea....
paint our toe nails...
buy new flip flops...
eat kabobs and potato chips...
let the kids play in the dirt...
and listen to some Nickelback and Dave Matthews Band on the deck.
Maybe even dazzle the kids with their own fun drinks...
Are you in?

Sowing Seeds

Our garden last summer was one of the best family projects
we could have ever decided to take on.

Checking for our daily harvest was the highlight of many summer mornings.

We all learned a lot and felt crazy proud eating food we grew ourselves.

After a minor set back with the Lupine seeds a couple weekends ago, we geared up and
spent a lot of family time today getting ready for our garden this summer.
Due to our spastic gardening excitement we are expanding
into a couple more garden boxes this year.
Which will hold...
Green Beans
Corn
Carrots
Radishes
Okra
Big Pumpkins
Mini Pumpkins
Sunflowers
Cucumbers
Green Peppers
Tomatoes
Strawberries

And of course we planted AJ & Abby's Lupine seeds for the front yard

First, we organized our little pots...
Then, we put the kids to work getting soil from the garden box...
to mix with the new soil.
We planted many, many seeds.
And watched Girlfriend very closely around them.
Chick could not get away from the Paparazzi to sneak a seed snack if she wanted to.
We talked a lot about how plants grow.
We started an experiment with a couple seeds in baggies with a wet paper towel...
so we could see how seeds sprout and the roots grow.
Lastly, we planted some grass in egg shells.
I love spring!
Can you tell?!
