Sledding

I love the thrill of sledding.
And I love seeing me kids love it as much as I do.
Girlfriend was like a rocket down that hill.
She flew down that hill and caught air on the jump every single time.
It was hilarious to watch.
Brody laughed the entire way down the hill every time.
Crazy fearless kid.
And AJ was pretty much out of control on each run.

So many smiles and so much laughter.
It was good for the soul.
Ab flipped upside down and took a mouth full of snow and was done.

But we had fun for a while.

A Kindergarten Quilt

AJ's class needed a volunteer to help create a project for their silent auction.
A project that each kiddo contributed to in some way.

I love stuff like this, and couldn't resist.
I was on mission to find something that captured the fun, whimsical spirit of being a kid.

In my quest for the perfect project, I found Distant Pickles post about a quilt she made for her mother.
The second I saw it, I knew in my heart it was the one.

I was able to go into AJ's school one day and trace each kiddo's hand on the fabric of their choice and let them write their name on their hand.
It was awesome to see each of his classmates' excitement to be a part of a class project.

Then I got to work like crazy cutting, appliqueing, and quilting!
And at moments wondering if I could pull this off...

Here is how it turned out:
It is quite possibly my most favorite project I have ever made.

I hope someone at the auction loves it too.

Snow Day

We played in the snow for hours on Monday.
AJ laughed the entire time.
I'm serious.  The kid's cheeks had to hurt from smiling so much.
Basically, we threw snow at each other till we were too cold and tired to move.

Then we warmed up with hot cocoa, whipped cream, and sprinkles.

After we got all warmed up, we decided to make snow ice cream...
with sprinkles of course.

Insta-Friday On Friday

Happy Friday!
It's been a pretty calm week
coming off our Valentines Day candy hangover.
Here's a little glimpse into my world via pics.
I have to confess, we've become addicted to watching
Breaking Bad.
It's bad. I'm serious. It's messed up.
It's about cooking and dealing meth.
It's violent and gory and everything that's wrong in this world,
but I can't stop watching it yo.
If you don't watch the show, the next pic will not make any sense.
If you watch the show, I don't know what to say about myself.
Other than everytime I see this pic, I can't stop laughing.
And I can't stop saying yo.
This is Brody's favorite game.
We play it a lot.
It's not my favorite game.
Last Friday night Nana and Papa took the kids till Sunday morning.
It was delightful.
What did we do with our glorious kid free time?
We got Starbucks, shared a soft pretzel at the mall, walked around the best thrift store I ever seen for hours laughing at ridiculous t-shirts, got carry-out from Wing Stop, and watched like 4 episodes of our new addiction.
Yup. That's how we roll.
AJ's the new proud owner of the witch shirt.
Because I think it's hilarious.
I am sick and twisted. I know.
Gotta love a stache temp tat on a freckled boy.
This is what happens if I'm away from my phone for a few minutes.
Thank goodness for unlimited texting.
I'm pretty sure I get more texts than a 16 year old.
I freakin' love technology.
The White House by AJ.
(I totally get why my mom had scrapbook boxes now.)
This boy never stops smiling...or eating.
I totally see an elephant.
A really skinny one, but an elephant.
Love that this boy has enough hair to pull off a fauxhawk.
He's rockin' it.
It's almost distracting enough that the crusty nose goes unnoticed.
Almost.
I love that Girlfriend calls mac & cheese mackin' n cheese.
Mackin'. Ha!
I rocked one of my date day thrift store finds today.
And I've had the song Thrift Shop in my head all day as a result...
I'll wear your granddad's clothes
I look incredible
I'm in this big a** coat
From that thrift shop down the road...

PB&J'S On The Go

I took an awesome meal planning class from Bargain Blessings a little while ago, and learned about freezing PB&J sandwiches!

I don't know about you, but I make a lot of PB&J's...especially in the summer for picnics.

I bought an extra loaf of bread and made the entire loaf into sandwiches, individually bagged each one in a zip lock bag, labeled it grape or apricot, put them all back into the bread loaf bag and stuck it in the freezer.

I've already grabbed a couple and threw them in a lunch box on busy days running errands, and they were perfect!

I love finding simple ways to reduce stress!

Insta...Tuesday

Hi friends!

Sorry for the delay.

I'm still alive.

Thanks for the well checks.

It's just been crazy busy up in Crazytown. Yo.

We did make it to the Chinese New Year festival.

And it was delicious and festive.

AJ was satisfied with our cultural experience.

AJ and I made it out of the house for a little mama and son time.
It was fun to have him all to myself.
He tried to order a cheeseburger...at Chick-fil-A...
And an ice cream Saturday instead of an ice cream sundae.
He landed the closest guess out of the entire restaurant of how many mints were in a jar and won 100 mints, a gift card, and stuffed cow.
He said it was the best night of his life.
It was a pretty awesome night.
It cracks me up that AJ disguised his penguin as Garfield.
I laugh and shake my head every time I walk past it.
It's just so perfectly his style.
Sunday doughnuts with the fam is pretty fabulous.
Ab never passes up a chocolate doughnut with sprinkles and strawberry milk.
I'm a classic glazed doughnut and chocolate milk girl myself.

Oh how I have to pump myself up for the the weekly meal plan, grocery list, and coupon quest.

It's a necessary evil.

But my least favorite part of the week.

I ran to the store for more milk with this fashionista one day.
She told me about a hundred times that she hoped someone noticed her shoes.
I'm pretty sure everyone that saw us noticed her shoes.

I woke up Valentines morning to this on my night stand.

It was an awesome thing to wake up to.

We went to AJ's party at school, spent the afternoon opening valentines and eating candy and had heart shaped pizza for dinner.
It was a good day.
I started a quilt for the silent auction at the kids' school.
And sent an adorable nephew a birthday box!

Here's to an on time Insta-Friday this week!
