A&Wesome...From My Soap Box

I have been trying to think of little ways to let AJ and Abby's teachers know they are supported and appreciated as they start the school year.

I started out my quest with a simple google search and was appalled at how many people out there in this crazy world posted about how a beginning of the year gift is a "suck up" gift and/or how something little at Christmas was fine...or nothing was necessary at all ever.

really?!

I can honestly say after teaching for seven years...
Teachers work their butts off.

Their dedication extends well beyond the school day...
planning lessons, preparing supplies for lessons, grading, researching new ideas, answering emails...etc.

Not to mention the mental and emotional stamina they exert
being patient and compassionate all day.

Think about what it takes to be a good parent with only 1 or 2 or 3 kid(s)...
now think about managing 25 to 30 kids...
not to mention meeting state standards.

If your child has an amazing teacher,
I can guarantee they are putting their heart and soul into their job...
along with A LOT of their time and energy outside of school.

They spend 5 out of 7 days of the week with your kiddo...
and an average of 180 days out of the year...pretty much half the year.

They deserve to be appreciated...loved...adored...showered with your kindness.
& I'm not just talking about cookies at Christmas and a card on Teacher Appreciation Day...

half the year folks!
If you expect more than cookies and a card from your spouse on Mother's Day...
Doesn't it make sense that the person who spends the other half the year with your kids when you are not with them deserves more too?

Acknowledging a teacher's hard work is not sucking up.

It's.being.a.decent.person.

Whoa...
some chick out there struck a nerve.

Really, I just got on here today to say...

Look at this cute lil' way to make your child's teacher smile on the first day of school & show them you appreciate all they do from the beginning...

but I went there...
that edgy place expressing my strong opinion point blank.

So there you have it...
My 58 cent a person "suck up" beginning of the year teacher treat.

Mine got cute little drinking glasses full of Hershey's Bliss chocolates, with a note that says "Looking forward to a Bliss-full year!"....corny but cute. I am just another former teacher that knows how hard they work!

You're so creative and thoughtful! I'm such a loser, and a former teacher at that! I never received nor even thought of a beginning of the year gift.

Love this post! Am not a teacher and can still appreciate and agree with everything you said. We have an AMAZING teacher this year (knew it the very first moment we met her) and I plan to shower her with our appreciation this year! Thank you for the reminder and I may plan to hit you up for more ideas :)
