I've Been Slackin'

I have been reading on the deck...
playing in the sprinkler...
supervising the sandbox...
drinking root beer floats...
drawing with sidewalk chalk...
catching bugs...

but,
I have not been sewing much lately.

I would rather be outside.

Really, my only sewing accomplishments lately are:

Exhibit A:

Girlfriend's new sundress...
and

Exhibit B:
My quilting group's July block.
muy tradicional
pero me encanta

I'm thinking fall and winter are great times of the year to get my craft on.

Until then, I have a vampire novel to finish before school starts.

Sew Feminine Aprons

Holla!
You must check out my friend's Etsy shop
for the cutest aprons e.v.e.r!

Mother/Daughter sets!
Are you kidding me?!
How fun is that?!

I would like...them all.

Her work is absolutely perfect.
Her corners are sharp.
Her stitches are even and her lines straight.
Every stinkin' cute apron is of the highest quality.

Take my word for it.
I sew with her every week.
This chicka is good at aprons.
Trust me.

So go now and buy one...

for yourself because you deserve it...
for your mother & your mother-in-law for Christmas...
for your daughter for her birthday...or just because you want to make brownies together...
for your sister because you love her...
for your kiddo's new teacher (with a Starbucks card) because teachers love gifts...
for your neighbor because they water your garden when you are on vacation...
for your Aunt because she is your aunt...
for your grandma because she bakes you cookies...

Go on now, get shopping.

Sewing Room Redo

The before:
(which having the room itself was a luxury)
The inspiration:
(which made my heart happy just to think about)
The after:
(transformed from a boring mess into a bright, fun, refreshing retreat for all things creative...
better than I ever could have imagined.)
A funky aqua chandelier for good lighting...
Heather Bailey's Church Flowers with Pocketbook ruffles upon the windows...
a splash of sunflowers on the walls...
my mantra in a frame...
a collection of spools...
a funky twist on a white board for notes...
& my favorite quilt...

all come together to make my new favorite room in the entire house!

Whoop! Whoop!

How AJ Rolls

Last October we won a movie basket from my school's Fall Carnival.
Little did we know the impact the said basket would have on our lives all these months later.

Super excited for family movie night, we popped the popcorn, tore open the Whoppers, and threw in our new Scooby Doo movie.

Andy did mention that Scooby Doo might be a little scary for our 3 year old at the time.
Did I listen?

For months the first thing AJ would say to e.v.e.r.y. single person he saw,
"I'm sad. Mom showed me a scary Scooby Doo movie. I'm scared."

Great child. Tell the whole world.
Just say your dad showed it to you next time.

Anyway, sometime during this phase in his life he got the idea in his little stubborn head that
although he was scarred for life and Scooby Doo scared the crap out of him,
he wanted a Scooby Doo birthday party.

Really?

Whatever...
surely 9 months later
when his birthday actually came around he would forget all about Scooby Doo.

Or not...

like his mother,
once a seed is planted in his brain he must grow it into a reality.
There is no going back.

Call it hard headed...
Call it stubborn...
I like to call it determination.

The child did not even watch the movie ever again or the cartoon for that matter.
But here we are 9 months later...
having a Scooby Doo birthday party for my now 4 year old.

Happy Birthday Little Dude.

The 4th

Girlfriend was lovin' it...
BBQ's all weekend...juice and cookies everywhere...
her dream come true.
Chicka warmed right up to her cousin Victoria,
although she wondered why her juicebox was withheld for a picture...

The kids were having fun...
food...stuffed animals...playground...
it was a kid's paradise...

until the adults decided to take pictures...

Victoria was on board...
AJ just wanted to blow bubbles & could care less about anyone else's desires...
Jenna was in a land of princesses and unicorns, twirling in pixie dust...
Jamie was kinda wondering why she was herded over here & thinking AJ's bubbles looked fun...

Victoria went to look for L.B...
Man screw this, Jamie was going for the bubbles...

AJ held his own, continuing to have a death grip on the bubbles...
only making the photo session that much more annoying for Jamie...
Vic and Jenna were still ready to go...
Abby was really starting to get concerned about where all the food went...

As time went on, even Jenna was starting to get bored with the whole photo shoot thing...

(Jamie showed on the outside how they all felt on the inside...)

L.B. was located and up for anything...
Abby's hunger was growing and she lost it when AJ took her Giraffe after his bubbles were confiscated...

Then the adults decided maybe the slide would work better...
you know a change of scenery for a fresh start...

right...

Man, we're outta' here.
