GrAnD OpEnInG

I did it!
It is live!
People are looking at it!

I opened my Etsy Shop!
My heart is racing...seriously racing.
I am just so stinkin' excited...I am giddy!
I am nervous...in an excited way.
This is big.
This is really big for me.

I l.o.v.e. to make stuff for people!
I l.o.v.e to pick fabric for people!
And really this shop is the perfect excuse to buy fabric...
every fabric that makes my heart skip a beat.

I am a nerd.  I know.
I am okay with that.

I already have views!...views...real people are looking at my stuff!
I might have a heart attack when I get my first sale!

I can't contain myself.

Check it out!
Let me know what you think!
Tell everyone you know about it!
Give me ideas.
Give me feedback.
Tell me what you want me to make you!

Humor me people.

Go there now!

Daddy's Apron

Andy & AJ like to cook together.
A little while back Andy got something on his shirt while they were cooking,
and AJ said, "Daddy, you need an apron. "

Then Andy had a stroke of genius and said,
"Wow. That's a great idea AJ.  Maybe mom could make me one.  Would you like to pick out the fabric for my new apron?"

You see...
it was the last part that got him in trouble.

I am not sure why Andy was surprised with how this played out.
What did he really expect a 3 & a half year old to pick out?...
Something manly?

Once AJ set his eyes on it, there was no going back.
The child was in love, & that was the fabric that was destined to be daddy's apron.

I call it:
The Wheels On The Bus Go Round & Round.
nice....

& daddy must wear it every time he cooks.
AJ approves of the final apron:

Nacho Pizza

Every week it is a struggle to come up with a menu around this house.

We usually eat the same things over & over again.

We find fast, easy meals & stick to those.

But occasionally we find a new favorite...
& we eat it over and over.

Come on...
sour cream mixed with salsa on a pizza crust & topped with tasty nacho goodness!

Holla!

You are going to want to eat it every night also.
I promise.

This picture and lame description really do not do it justice.

Ingredients:

1 pkg. (6-1/2 oz.) pizza crust mix
1 tsp. cornmeal
3/4 lb. ground beef
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 cup salsa
1/2 cup sour cream
1 medium tomato, chopped
2 Tbsp. chopped black olives
2 cups (8oz.) shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup crushed tortilla chips

Directions:

1.  Prepare pizza curst according to package directions.  Coat a 12-in. pizza pan with cooking spray; sprinkle with cornmeal.  With floured hands, press dough into pan.  Bake at 425 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until lightly browned.

2.  Meanwhile, in a small skillet cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.  Stir in chili powder, salt and pepper.

3.  Combine salsa and sour cream; spread over crust to within 1 in. of edge.  Top with beef mixture, tomatoes, olives and cheese.  Bake for 10 minutes.

4.  Sprinkle with crushed chips; bake 5-6 minutes longer or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown.

5. Enjoy this fabulously amazing new dinner with a cold Dr. Pepper...or your drink of choice.

Help a girl out...

If you have a
 fairly simple,
(doesn't take all night & can we threw together while fending off two young children)
super tasty
family favorite dinner, let me know.
Then this Sunday, I can impress Andy with all my new dinner ideas when we make the menu.

Little Bit of Sunshine

I am tired of the snow & cold.

I needed a bit of sunshine.
This makes me smile.
After a deep breath, I cut up a vintage tablecloth that has been hiding in my linen closet.

I have children...I don't use tablecloths anymore.
It is much happier as a banner.

Do you spy that absolutely fabulous yellow ribbon?!
I. love. it!
If I were a ribbon...that is the ribbon I would be...
yellow...with scallops...& polka dots...perfect!

The most radiant friend gave it to me.
She is amazing.
I want to be her.

How can you not smile when you glance up & are greeted by such a banner?!
I might make a few for the shop....what do you think...will people love it like I love it?...

"for the shop"...oh that is just too stinkin' fun to type and read!

Here is a tiny sneak peak at a couple other little projects I have been working on...
for the shop.

Our Cups Runneth Over

I am super stoked about a recent room conversation!
We transformed our guest bedroom into a guest bedroom/sewing room yesterday!
If I am going to get serious about this sewing stuff, I need a space to work...
& the family kinda wanted their kitchen table back...
picky people.
Do you understand what this means to this girl?!
IT'S HUGE!

I can have both machines up & ready to go at any moment!
Ah, the convenience!
The freedom!
The flexibility!
The increased productivity!
& Jess still has a bed to sleep in when she stays.
It works great to spread my projects out on in the meantime.

AND
other exciting news:

I found fabric for the back of AJ's cover quilt!

This poor thing has set untouched, abandoned for weeks...
until now!
Girlfriend's cup runneth over today...
as she discovered the peanut buttery, chocolatey goodness
of Girl Scout cookies.

This girl definitely belongs to us.

Oh, in Etsy shop news...
the countdown is on...
give me 8 more days till the official launch.

A Handmade Birthday Gift

AJ & Abby are going to a birthday party today, &
I had so much fun making their gift!
I'm smitten.
I love pink.
I love polka dots.
I love gathered fabric.
I might have kept it...
if it wasn't sized to fit a four year old....
Happy Birthday Lucia!
